Medicinal Uses & Side effects of Ceftriaxone
Ceftriaxone, widely known as Rocephin, is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of infections caused by various bacterias. Meningitis, middle ear infections, pneumonia, endocarditis, bone and joint infections, skin infections, intra-abdominal infections, gonorrhoea, urinary tract infections, and pelvic inflammatory disease are examples of these. It is also used to try to avoid infection before surgery and after a bite wound. Ceftriaxone can be administered through injection into a vein or a muscle. Pain at the injection site and allergic reactions are common adverse effects. Other potential side effects include C.difficile-associated diarrhoea, hemolytic anaemia, gallbladder illness, and convulsions. It is not suggested for people who have had anaphylaxis to penicillin, but it can be used for people who have had lesser responses.
